Known issues
Current limitations and behaviours to design around. For live service health, see status.openmarkets.com.au.
Scheduled unavailability
The Market Data, News and OMS APIs are briefly unavailable on a regular schedule. Treat these as expected downtime rather than errors.
| Window | Duration |
|---|---|
| 1AM every night | 5 minutes |
| 7AM every Sunday | 5–10 minutes |
| Between 10PM and 11PM | 5–10 minutes, roughly weekly |
To minimise the impact, store data such as prices after 7PM on trading days, and implement a circuit breaker that widens the delay between retries until the API responds again. A tight retry loop during a window will consume your rate limit quota before the service returns.
Order updates subscription
When subscribing to order updates, invalid order values occur if you pick the AllOrdersForToday filter and start the flow before 4AM.
Start the order updates flow after 7AM.
Fixed contingent order updates
When subscribing to fixed contingent order updates, some null values are returned once the order becomes inactive.
Ignore those values and update the order state to inactive in your own model rather than treating them as a change.
Reporting something new
If you hit behaviour not listed here, raise it with API Support including the request you made and the response you received.
